Looking east from the third floor of their Whitefish Bay home, Mike and Katie Weber made a house-altering decision.
Lake Michigan glimmered brightly before them. The view was breathtaking. Spectacular. Awe-inspiring. Their vantage point was priceless. This, they agreed, had to be fully enjoyed.
“The house has incredible views of the lake, and from the third floor you can see all the way to Port Washington,” Mike Weber said.
They were already remodeling the third floor. The project was about to get bigger — much bigger.
“They had already done a bit of demolition,” Weber said. “My wife and I went up and looked out at the view, and we decided to do much more with it.”
“More” was adding a dormer with 800 square feet of new space. When finished, the expanded third floor housed a great room, office, bedroom and powder room. The Webers and their three children could all enjoy it, creating “one big family home, instead of having it be this tucked-away space,” Mike Weber explained.
